WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS, REGISTRATION
Saturday 4/17
10 a.m. - noon Gypsy Punk with Bastet
Give your audience a blow to the head and a kick in the teeth! Fast-paced,
grinding, gypsy-infused punk music brings out the belligerence in all of us!
Learn a theatrical choreography complete with over-the-top acting, can-can
kicks, and a dance “mosh-pit”. Get your steel-toed boots ready. This will be
a work-out.
2- 4 p.m. Skirts and Spins with Tribal Virgo
This workshop covers everything for the basics of fun skirt work to combos that kick it up a notch. Oh, and spins...lots of spins...with skirts...big skirts!! Class is for those who are intermediate to advanced. 24 yard skirt needed for class.
Sunday 4/18
10 a.m. - noon Romany Fusion with Tribal Virgo
Taking the Tradition and fusing it. In this workshop, you will learn traditional Rom Folk Dances and how to fuse them in a Tribal Format. You may want to bring dance shoes (beginner to advanced)
2-4 p.m. Double Fan Fusion with Bastet
Learn to layer double fans with belly dance from the “Fan Goddess” herself! In this exciting workshop, you will learn to treat the fans as an extension of your arms, using the fans to compliment and accentuate your belly dance performance. A complete movement and timing breakdown will accompany all basic fan and layered movements, which will be fused into combinations and incorporated into a short choreography to demonstrate the process of creating a fan fusion performance suitable for both troupe and solo work. Participants will need two fans for the workshop. Several pairs of fans will be available to borrow on a first come, first serve basis.
SATURDAY EVENING SHOWCASE
at Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Ave, Minneapolis.
Doors open 7:30, show 8 p.m. Tickets $10 in advance, $15 at the door
Starring Bastet, Tribal Virgo, Ms. Zuza, Tribal Spirits of the Sun, Guerrilla GRRLS!, music by Brass Messengers, featuring and many talented local (and not so local) artists.

BELLY is a feature length documentary by Cecilia and Chad Rinn of Full Tilt Boogie L.L.C. that is an intimate exploration of belly-dancers living in America today.
